Update for Tuesday..

There is an early email from Vivien ( or is it because I woke up late....?). I am posting it here right now since I will be going out shortly to meet up with my niece in Lowyat Plaza..

"Mon, 07/12/09  - I forgot to tell you guys about this yesterday.   Nurse Fiona is from Ireland with a British husband.  So we could pick up some British accent and more prominently, the Irish accent when she speaks. Edi broke out in song, Irish eyes are smiling albeit only for a few seconds but he sang the line twice !  Next, he recalled another song, Seven drunken nights and played it from his mobile phone for the nurse!! Fiona thought the singers were the Dubliners and she was rather amazed at being reminded of the song in this manner.  Isn't this a wonderful story?

Tue, 08/12/09  - hopefully a bed does become available from Rehab tomorrow in a building next door to where Edi is housed.  He looks a bit forlorn and it really is time to move on from the ward.  Yesterday Nurse Tracey has said that if a bed doesn't become available by Wed, they will bring in some equipment to get Edi going rather than just waiting around.

It's been raining since last night so the weather is gloomy and wet outside Edi's window.  Surprisingly he doesn't feel the cold as much; Hei Meng's vest which Hazel has hastily washed and dried was placed back into the cupboard.

Back in my office, two calls came through - first one from Nurse Simone that a bed is now available at Rehab and Edi will be transferred at 2'ish today.   I'll be there at 12'ish to see if he's still eating well and go over to Rehab with him.  Also to sort out medication and other stuff with the doctors and pharmacists.  Second call came ½ hr later at 11 am from Head Nurse David (he wasn't aware that I'd been contacted by
Simone).

Edi wanted to know how long his stay at Rehab would be but this can only be answered when he's assessed at Rehab Centre, however, David thinks Edi shouldn't stay too long as he's doing really well.  I wonder if speech therapy is involved at Rehab, well will know soon.  Physiotherapist, Sandi has mentioned a few days of Rehab yesterday but again, this is not her call per se.  "
